O japonských slečnách, Prague: wo-men publishing, 2025
It is striking how timeless material collected twelve years ago can feel within today’s enormously accelerated present. Emancipation, the growing phenomenon of single women, financial independence, sexuality, the right to self-determination, conscious time for oneself, time for family, relationships, relationships with men, declining birth rates, care for children and ageing parents. These phenomena demonstrate that the lives and opinions of women in Japan can be, perhaps surprisingly, almost identical to those here and elsewhere. The book possesses a rare gift – it speaks a universal language while losing none of the richness and specificity of detail.
